The Cairngorms is the UK's biggest national park and is a mecca for wilderness biking with a sense of adventure that is hard to find anywhere else.

Warm up in the Rothiemurchus forest, try some of the trails in and around Loch Morlich or Loch an Eilein, then get ready to take on one of the classic trails.

A map and compass are the two essential pieces of kit if you're keen to take on the Cairngorms challenge. What about one of these classic routes to start with:

  • Ryvoan pass - start and finish at Glenmore lodge
  • The climb (and descent!) up to Loch Einich. Don't forget your plastic bags to keep your feet dry when you ford the river!
  • Glen Feshie and Inshriach forest. Start and finish at Loch an Eilein to extend the trail.

We recommend that the longer trails only be taken up by those who are familiar with the region or are happy to take a guide if venturing off the beaten path.
